NCDD Advanced Breath Testing Course

NCDD Advanced Breath Testing Course

This program will review the underlying science involved in breath testing and the common misconceptions among the courts and police. The course will cover the common errors in breath testing from inaccurate scientific assumptions to installation and maintenance of the device and introduction of the sample.

Students will have hands on experience with several devices on how they are set up for service, checked for calibration and used in the testing. The course will provide the opportunity for drinking subjects to provide samples and allow students to administer the test.

Once an understanding of the process is completed, students will be broken up into small groups to incorporate the information learned in the earlier session into trial skills. These include discovering a reason the jury will vote for not guilty, incorporating those issues into voir dire, carrying the problem through the opening, closing, crossing, and directing the expert to establish the foundation for a Not Guilty verdict.
