He went on to earn his Juris Doctor and distinguished himself through hands-on courtroom and judicial experience that shaped his strategic approach to criminal defense. He also trained with two of Arizona’s criminal defense agencies, the Maricopa County Legal Advocate and a Public Defender Clinic, where he worked on a wide spectrum of misdemeanor and felony matters. Prior to joining Aurum Law Group, Zalman served as an Attorney with the City of Phoenix’s Tenant Eviction Assistance Project. In that fast-paced environment, he represented tenants in high-volume eviction court, often advocating for clients under significant pressure and against well-resourced opposition. He consistently achieved favorable outcomes through preparation, negotiation, and assertive courtroom advocacy. The experience further refined his ability to operate effectively in adversarial settings where timing, precision, and strategy are critical. Zalman is also a published legal author and has contributed to advancing constitutional and criminal justice issues through his work with the William E. Morris Institute for Justice.
