About Collin Evans

I was born and raised in Texas. I attended The University of Texas where I received my degree from the Red McCombs School of Business. After graduating, I worked in the Intellectual Property division at Fulbright & Jaworski assisting with patent prosecution. Before entering into law school, I trained in Muay Thai, Krav Maga, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu which instilled a sense of discipline, strong work ethic, and disposition to fight that I have carried over into my law practice. I then went on to earn my Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law. In law school, I traveled as an advocate with Mock Trial teams for one of the top ranked schools in the nation for trial advocacy. I also clerked for Justice Terry Jennings at the First Court of Appeals, and at a preeminent criminal defense law firm for three years. After obtaining my law license, the firm hired me as their Associate Attorney where I worked for the next several years fighting for clients and trying cases before founding my own law firm. I practice criminal defense law with an emphasis on DWI cases. I have helped clients through difficult situations from initial investigations to first time DWI offenses, to high profile cases that garner media attention. Since becoming a lawyer, I have obtained acquittals or dismissals for my clients in a wide range of felony and misdemeanor cases, including DWI, possession of controlled substances (drugs), assault, family violence, prostitution, arson, sexual assault, Motion to Revoke Probation/Adjudicate and theft charges. As a member of the defense team that represented Dr. Conrad Murray in the involuntary manslaughter charge for the death of Michael Jackson, I experienced the intensity that the worldwide media can put on a highly publicized criminal allegation and know how to handle these types of cases with professionalism and integrity. I continually work to be prepared for every client’s situation especially in DWI cases where I have focused on training to be able to challenge the government’s experts. I completed an intensive 160-hour analytical lab training program at Axion Labs in Chicago. The program included a series of hands-on courses in Forensic Chromatography: Theory & Practice, Forensic Analysis of Solid Drugs, and Forensic Principles of DUID. I earned the Forensic Lawyer-Scientist Designation as recognized by the American Chemical Society, which is the highest form of scientific recognition available for lawyers. I completed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)/International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Program, just like the police officers that administer the roadside tests in DWI cases. Additionally, I have completed a comprehensive course on Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE), as well as the Drug Evaluation and Classification Program (DECP/DRE). I am an active member of National College for DUI Defense, DUI Defense Lawyer’s Association, and multiple defense lawyer associations around the Houston area, including the Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association. I have been recognized as a Super Lawyer and Texas Lawyer Rising Star for eight years in a row. I have also received the Avvo Client’s Choice Award every year since starting my own firm in 2012. I represent clients in Harris, Fort Bend, Galveston, Montgomery, Waller, Brazoria, and Chambers counties. I am married with two daughters. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, coaching my girls’ softball teams, and playing guitar, bass and piano.
