About Tarinpal Dhaliwal

Tarinpal Dhaliwal is a criminal defence lawyer at Aitken Robertson, representing clients throughout the Greater Toronto Area and across Ontario. Licensed by the Law Society of Ontario, he regularly appears before both the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice. His practice includes defending clients facing charges such as impaired driving (by alcohol or drug), "80 and over," refusal to provide a breath sample, and dangerous driving. Tarinpal provides thoughtful, informed representation and works closely with clients to address the broader consequences of their charges, including licence suspensions, insurance implications, and ignition interlock requirements as mandated by Ontario’s Back on Track program. Tarinpal has represented drivers subject to administrative driver’s licence suspensions and supports clients through cases involving roadside and station breath tests, care or control issues, and cross-border travel concerns. He regularly advises individuals with immigration status considerations and has resolved numerous matters in ways that preserve permanent residency or eligibility for citizenship. In many cases, he has secured favourable outcomes such as reductions to careless driving, peace bonds, or complete withdrawals—particularly where impaired or dangerous driving charges intersect with domestic allegations. Fluent in English and Punjabi, with working proficiency in Hindi and Urdu, Tarinpal is committed to clear communication with clients from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies from the University of Waterloo and earned his LL.B. from the University of Birmingham. A member of the Criminal Lawyers’ Association, he has developed and argued Charter motions, participated in racial profiling challenges, and frequently assists Indigenous clients, always mindful of the broader social context of the criminal justice system. Tarinpal continues to expand his legal knowledge and has recently completed “Impaired Driving 2024” training. His record includes successful acquittals, conditional discharges, and negotiated resolutions across Ontario, including notable outcomes in Brampton, Oshawa, Newmarket, and St. Thomas. He is proud to represent Aitken Robertson as a member of the National College for DUI Defense and is dedicated to enhancing his practice through continued education, collaboration, and advocacy.
