About Daniel Lemaire
Dan Lemaire is a criminal defence lawyer with Aitken Robertson who has dedicated the past six years to defending clients across Ontario, with a primary focus on impaired driving matters. Since the start of his career, DUI defence has been a constant in his practice, and over the years he has represented hundreds of clients facing drinking and driving charges. His courtroom experience includes conducting approximately 30 DUI trials, navigating both straightforward and highly complex cases. Dan’s training includes certification in Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) and Drug Recognition Evaluation (DRE), as well as completion of the Law Society of Ontario’s annual DUI CPD programs. He has also attended NCDD-affiliated training, including a specialized SFST conference in Houston, Texas. He is a member of the Criminal Lawyers’ Association and continues to seek out advanced training opportunities to sharpen his skills in impaired driving defence. In addition to his client work, Dan contributes to the profession by mentoring junior lawyers and providing in-house training within the firm. He has also shared his knowledge with colleagues in the broader legal community, presenting on DUI law at a criminal law CPD for local Peterborough lawyers in 2022. Dan’s approach to DUI defence is methodical and client-focused. He combines detailed analysis of the evidence with a commitment to holding the state accountable for any breaches of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Whether seeking a resolution or advancing a case to trial, he is driven by the goal of protecting his clients’ rights and securing the best possible outcome. He values his membership in the National College for DUI Defense for the connections it fosters with other leading impaired driving lawyers across North America, as well as the specialized training it provides. This network and knowledge base enable him to stay ahead of emerging legal and scientific developments, ultimately enhancing the defence he provides to his clients.
