About William Hume

Will Hume is a criminal defence lawyer with Aitken Robertson who brings passion, dedication, and a lifelong commitment to justice to his practice. He represents clients across Ontario in impaired driving and other criminal matters, combining rigorous legal advocacy with a compassionate, client-focused approach. Will’s interest in law began at a young age when he first witnessed how legal advocacy could provide real help to people facing difficult circumstances. This early inspiration led him to pursue an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology at the University of Toronto, where he deepened his understanding of criminal justice. He went on to earn his law degree from the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law at Lakehead University, where his studies included a strong focus on Indigenous Law. His time in Thunder Bay gave him important insight into systemic inequities in the legal system and the vital need for strong, empathetic representation. Before joining Aitken Robertson, Will worked in the Provincial Legislature, where he contributed to the development of laws addressing pressing social and legal issues. This experience sharpened his skills in advocacy, critical analysis, and issue spotting—skills that now serve his clients both inside and outside of the courtroom. He also draws on years of experience in government and customer service, which have equipped him to work effectively with diverse clients while maintaining professionalism and care. Outside of his legal practice, Will enjoys staying active at the gym, watching sports, reading, and cooking. His dedication to balance and discipline outside of work complements the commitment and energy he brings to every case he takes on
