About Sean Hessler
Sean is a native of Indiana who wanted to spend his career representing people who were in trouble and needed help. He was raised to value the rewards of helping others and knew that as an attorney he could be a voice for people who often aren’t heard in the system. He attended law school in Indianapolis, knowing that the state’s capital city — and largest city — was where he could do the most good. While a student at Indiana University School of Law, he developed a passion for criminal law and justice while working in internships in a prosecutor’s office and a public defender’s office. After law school, he spent eight years working as a deputy prosecutor in Marion County specializing in drug and gang cases, and earned first-hand knowledge and experience of how criminal courts operate.

This is often done in cases where organizations and entities wish to provide the reviewing court with their point of view, be it social or public policy implications, or special interest agendas....
Keeping FSTs Out of a Trial
04/23/2025
Written by Neil Halttunen I want to address a common issue that DWI practitioners are facing, trying to keep FSTs out of a trial. One way is to take the position that FSTs are scientific evidence and make the prosecutor lay scientific foundation which they rarely can do. The HGN test was the result of several studies. See Generally Session 8 of...
