About Scott Kevin Turner, J.D., Ph.D.
I am a seasoned defender with experience across trials, hearings, and appeals. I am also a lawyer-scientist with doctoral level training in the scientific method and advanced training and expertise in forensic science. This dual foundation helps me to identify legal issues and gaps in the government's case, respond to what is often a pseudo-scientific claim, and prove up a defense aimed at satisfying jurors. I use my skills to routinely challenge the reliability of field sobriety tests or the reliability of blood, saliva, and breath testing evidence. Relevant DWI/DWAI Drug Defense Training: *Serious Science - Blood Testing and Advocacy, *Mastering Scientific Evidence, *Understanding Lab Failures, *Qualitative and Quantitative Methods, *Breath test operation and procedures, *DWI Detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, *ARIDE (Alcohol/Drug Detection), *Accident Investigations, *Criminal Investigations and Top Gun Investigations Course, *Trial Academy (NYSBA [2010]; *Bronx Defenders Trial Academy [2024]) Professional Affiliations: National College for DUI Defense, New York State Defenders Association, Rutgers University, West Virginia University, NY Law School.

Oral Fluid Testing: Roadside vs. Evidential Analyses
09/02/2025
Written by Ashley M. Hart As cannabis is being decriminalized in many states, there has been increased interest in rapid roadside tests to detect THC and other substances for intoxicated driving charges.
