About Matthew Martin

I grew up playing sports, which instilled in me a deep competitive drive that naturally carried over into my legal career. In law school, I competed in Moot Court, where I argued appellate cases before panels of judges and attorneys, earning both the Best Oralist award and the Eve August Moot Court Scholarship for achieving the highest grade in the class. I was then selected for my law school’s national moot court team, where we won regional championships and advanced to the national competition in New York two consecutive years. After graduating and passing the bar exam, I began my career as a prosecutor in Oakland County, Michigan, one of the state’s busiest jurisdictions, where I gained extensive trial experience prosecuting serious felony cases, including murders, major drug conspiracies, robberies, sexual assaults, and violent crimes. After moving to Colorado in 2003, I continued serving as a deputy district attorney in Douglas, Arapahoe, and Jefferson counties, further expanding my courtroom experience handling complex criminal matters. In 2008, I opened my own criminal defense practice in Denver, where I now represent clients facing DUI, misdemeanor, and felony charges. Drawing on more than 13 years as a prosecutor and over 150 jury trials, I use my insight into how prosecutors think, build cases, and select juries to aggressively defend my clients. My competitive nature drives me to outwork the opposition, and my longstanding relationships with judges and prosecutors throughout the Denver metro area provide valuable perspective and experience in every case I handle.

AI in Court Filings: The Ethics Line Between Assistance and Abdication

03/30/2026

By Ryan Katz It is no secret that Artificial Intelligence, or AI, is vastly changing the landscape of many different fields. Oral Fluid Testing: Roadside vs. Evidential Analyses

09/02/2025

Written by Ashley M. Hart As cannabis is being decriminalized in many states, there has been increased interest in rapid roadside tests to detect THC and other substances for intoxicated driving charges.
