In 1995, when the National College for DUI Defense was created, David was the only New Mexico attorney and one of only 60 nationwide to be accepted into the first Summer Session held at Harvard Law School. He became New Mexicos first Founding Member of this preeminent organization. He frequently participates in the Summer Session held at Harvard Law School. He has been in practice since 1977 and holds Board Certifications by the New Mexico Board of Legal Specialization and by the National Board of Trial Advocacy as a Criminal Defense Trial Specialist. For the past two years, Mr. Serna has been selected for inclusion in the National Association of Distinguished Counsel. Only the top 1% of attorneys nationally are selected for inclusion. In the summer of 2013, he was the recipient of the Charles Driscoll Memorial Award. This award is given each year to one New Mexico attorney who best exemplifies extraordinary commitment to the protection of life, liberty, and Constitutional rights. Mr. Serna was named of of the Top Lawyers of Albuquerque by Albuquerque Magazine. Each year since 2007, Mr. Serna has been selected by SuperLawyers.com as a Super Lawyer in the fields of DWI/DUI Defense, Criminal Defense, and White Collar Crime Defense. Only the top 5% of attorney’s nationally are selected annually. He is a Life Member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and a Life Member of the National Legal Committee for the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML).
