About David S. Zuckerman

My name is Dave Zuckerman, and I am a Pittsburgh DUI, criminal and traffic defense attorney. What sets me apart from most other Pittsburgh criminal defense attorneys is my experience working in all three phases of the criminal justice system: As a former Judicial Law Clerk for the Court of Common Pleas (40th Judicial District), as an Allegheny County Assistant District Attorney (ADA) with a near 80% conviction rate on jury trials, and as a criminal defense attorney and founding attorney for the Zuckerman Law Firm, LLC. I have analyzed criminal cases from all angles, and use this experience to help defend my clients in state courts throughout Western Pennsylvania. As an active trial attorney, I served as lead counsel on approximately 60 jury and non-jury trials, and have litigated hundreds of preliminary hearings. During my time as an ADA, I provided guidance to police departments on conducting criminal investigations and making charging decisions. I also spent time working for a personal injury firm in the Pittsburgh area, assisting with litigation and settlement negotiations on behalf of clients injured by negligent drivers in auto accidents. When you hire my firm to handle your representation, I will utilize my experience, skills and education to prepare for trial while working behind the scenes to negotiate the best possible results for your case. I won’t push you to fight a losing battle, or plead guilty to a crime you didn’t commit to just “get the case over with.” I don’t have secretaries and paralegals screening my calls – when you call, I answer the phone. If something important happens with your case, you hear from me directly.

Written by Jonathan Dichter The Heart of Client Care: Moving Beyond Case Management In the legal profession, we often talk about "case management" - the systems and processes that keep our cases moving efficiently. But what about *client care*? True client care goes beyond deadlines and filings; it's about treating clients as *people*-scared, uncertain, and in need of guidance. And when done...

Personal Contact: Using the Officer's Observations Against Them

03/10/2025

Written by Charles GoodwinEdited by Michelle Behan and Steven Hernandez The typical DUI investigation has three phases. It begins with the vehicle in motion and focuses on driving patterns that officers are trained might indicate impairment. Next is personal contact, where the officer will observe physical manifestations that are also purportedly correlated with alcohol ingestion and impairment. Finally, the officer will...
