About Jonathan Joseph Goebel

Jonathan has been practicing criminal defense for 13 years. Prior to working for the defense, Jonathan was a former prosecutor at the Maricopa CountyAttorney’s Office and the Attorney General’s office. Because of his experience as a prosecutor, he has a unique background and perspective when it comes to criminal defense. It is in part because of this perspective, as well as his wealth of experience and hard-work ethic, that he has effectively represented thousands of clients throughout Arizona, including matters in juvenile court, misdemeanor and superior courts, federal court, forfeiture proceedings, administrative board hearings, probation violation court, MVD hearings, Rule 11 competency hearings, Simpson hearings and appellate courts. Jonathan has been peer-review rated AV by Martindale Hubble. Jonathan is honored to have recently been granted NCDD Board Certification in DUI Defense. As an Assistant Attorney General with Arizona Attorney General’s Office Jonathan prosecuted defendants for various White Collar Fraud and Political Corruption felonies on behalf of the State of Arizona. Investigated, filed, and charged numerous cases major Felony cases. He appeared before Arizona Grand Jury, and in superior and federal courts. He argued substantive and procedural Motions and negotiated resolution of numerous resolutions resulting in the conviction of various criminal defendants. He also worked closely with members of numerous law enforcement agencies. As a Deputy County Attorney with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office Jonathan Goebel prosecuted defendants in both misdemeanors and felony cases in Maricopa County. He prosecuted defendants in juvenile court, misdemeanor justice courts, superior court, probation violation court, Rule 11 court, drug court, and in Simpson hearings. He tried numerous criminal cases to both juries and to judges. He successfully responded to and argued numerous substantive and procedural motions. When Jonathan made the switch to criminal defense, his passion in advocating for his clients led to many victories. In his numerous trial experiences, he has had countless trial victories, including driving under the influence (DUI), extreme DUI, DUI Drugs, Super Extreme DUI, reckless driving, assaults, aggravated assault, resisting arrest, unlawful flight, felony theft, false reporting to a law enforcement officer, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of marijuana, possession of narcotics, theft of means of transportation, leaving the scene of a fatal accident, and armed robbery. He has also successfully negotiated hundreds of lesser included offenses on behalf of his clients and obtained mitigated sentences through the use of mitigation experts, mitigation videos, psychological experts, and medical experts. He has also argued both pretrial and appellate motions and obtained dismissals on behalf of his clients for a wide range of constitutional violations that include the Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Amendments.
