About Jonathan Burton Blecher

In the beginning of my career, I represented the State of Florida in felony prosecutions in cases ranging from DUI to murder, serving as an Assistant State Attorney in Miami-Dade County from 1981 to 1984. I then worked as the Senior Trial Attorney at Essen & Essen, P.A. for NCDD Founding Member Richard Essen until 1992, when I opened my own defense firm - Jonathan Blecher, P.A. In addition to my legal practice, I have led seminars instructing attorneys regarding DUI defense and given lectures on courtroom procedure for police officers at the Miami-Dade County Police Academy. I also speak to various professional and civic groups about DUI defense and criminal law practice. I am a proud member of and contributor to the following legal organizations: National Trial Lawyers: Top 100 Trial Lawyers Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Miami National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers National College for DUI Defense American Civil Liberties Union Judge, University of Miami Law School Mock Trial Competition DUINewsBlog.org As a result of my courtroom skills and dedication to clients, I have been awarded and AV Rating and the Client Distinction Award from Martindale-Hubbell® as well as a 10.0 Rating from AVVO. My experience is enhanced by my background of and ongoing involvement in various organizations that taught me skills I continue to use today.
