BOARD CERTIFIED BY THE NATIONAL COLLEGE FOR DUI DEFENSE-1999 BOARD OF REGENTS- 1995-1997 DEAN OF THE NATIONAL COLLEGE FOR DUI DEFENSE- 1996-1997 Doug Cowan is Washington States most prominent DUI defense lawyer, and, as such, is regularly called upon to serve on legislative and other government task forces considering DUI issues. A frequent contributor of articles to national and local criminal defense and bar publications, he is a founder and past board member of the Washington Assoc. of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and is founder and president of the Washington Foundation for Criminal Justice, a state assoc. of DUI defense specialists, and sponsor of an annual seminar on DUI defense that regularly draws an attendance of 450 to 600 lawyers. Co-author of the text, Defending DWIs in Washington, the MICHIE Company, Mr. Cowan is a founder of the National College for DUI Defense, presented annually, serves on the Board of Regents of the College. With 27 years of experience prosecuting and defending DUI cases, Mr. Cowan has been a featured speaker in eleven states at DUI defense seminars and addressed 11 national DUI defense programs. He is a past president of the East King County Bar Association and is the former prosecuting attorney for the city of Bellevue, Washington States fourth largest city.
